How
do I enter my child's weekly lessons into iSpellWell
iSpellWell
was designed so that adding new lessons is simple. From the
main window, click on the Administration menu then Wizards,
then New Lesson. This starts the New Lesson Wizard. To see the
online documentation for more information about using the New
Lesson Wizard, click here.
Some of the words I enter do not sound right.
What can I do to make them sound better?
iSpellWell
uses Microsoft Agent to read spelling words and phrases. This
technology sometimes has a difficult pronouncing single words.
You can improve the sound of problem words using several "Tricks".
The word "your" for example is pronounced without
any difficulty when used in a sentence. When used as a single
spelling word, the technology does not pronounce it correctly.
You can get around this by using the Phonetic Field of iSpellWell.
When you enter a new lesson, you have the option of entering
a Phonetic spelling of a word. If the spelling word is "your",
enter "yore" in the Phonetic Spelling field.
Single syllable words are sometime hard to understand. The
word "bed", for example. Try adding a period, exclamation
point or question mark at the end of the word in the Phonetic
Field. For the word "bed", enter "bed!"
in the Phonetic Field to improve the performance of the output.
iSpellWell
is distributed with all four Microsoft Agent Characters: Merlin,
Peedy, Genie and Robby. Merlin seems to be the most understandable
of the agents. If you are having troubles with a particular
lesson, try using Merlin. Click Administration, Edit, Lesson
to edit lessons. Click here
for more information about editing a lesson.
I cannot hear the Microsoft Agent Characters
